» Drinking and Driving

In this uk campaign we’ll see the 7 times Formula One champion Michael Schumacher bringing a powerful message:

Drinking and driving don’t mix, if I don’t do it, why would you!

Not really, “If I don’t do it, why would you” is not a strong argument, yet I don’t ever do it, so… If I don’t do it, why whould you? ;)

» Racing season ‘09 started

Two thousand and nine racing season has begun, and us followers are well aware that this year with the new vehicles on the escene yet with the teams budget limitations drivers will have to give the mosty most out of them to own the pole and/or to lead the race and win, exciting !!!

I for one follow the Group A & Group N categories like: DTM, Australian V8, Le-Mans series, American Le-Mans Series, Super Taikyu, Japanese Super GT , British Rally, Ireland Rally, WRC, the Argentinian TC 2000, and locally the Peruvian Desafío Movistar (an all noveu drivers race) and Peruvian Super Turismo 2000 (go Honda!).

» Honda withdraws from F1

Last night Takeo Fukui, president of Honda Motor Co. announced that Honda won’t continue to support the F1 racing sub-division Honda Racing F1 with immediate effect, meaning their retirement from the F1 racing for the 2009 season, the news has been shocking for the racing sub-division itself, the engineers, the crew, the drivers and all of us followers to one of the greatest racing companies, earlier this year Honda had been predicted to be one of the top 4 for the 2009 season.

Starting in 1964 with the passion of its fonder, Honda has always been close to the Formula One, from John Surtees who won the first Grand Prix (1967 in Italy), the amazing Ayrton Senna, and recently Jenson Button. This announcement closes a long relationship between the manufacturer and one of the ultimate racing events.

At the moment there are several serious buyers for the sub-division, we hope Honda Racing F1 to continue the next year’s season although it may be under another name.

Long life to the champions.

» Honda Access’s Modulo Civic Type R

It is not a surprise for no-one that Honda Type R cars are by far of the fastest, most respected, best engineered cars around and since Honda Access’s Modulo Civic Type R appeared it is kicking every other car’s ass, as an example, the guys at Best Motoring tested the car again a stock Civic Type R fd2, a Nismo Fairlady Z33 and a Subaru Impreza Sti Spec-C Type RA-R, the top of the line car for subaru impreza, see the results for yourself.

It seems the Modulo Civic Type R fd2 will become the stock production model for the fd2 for 2009, what a wonderful news!.

» My dreamed garage

If I had the money Jay Leno has, this high performance (or their tuned versions) vehicles will be on my garage, for starters:

Honda Civic Type R (EK9)

Honda Integra Type R (DC2)

Honda Civic Type R (FD2)

Honda NSX Type R (NA1)

Nissan Skyline R34

Mitsubishi Evolution IX GSR

Toyota AE86 (hachiroku)

Porsche 911 GT3

And my garage should look like this:

As en engineer and a racer, my preferences are: High Performance over Big Engine, so, no American Muscle will ever enter my preferred cars list.

» Nissan R35 GT-R vs The World

I have nothing but compliments to the Nissan team behind the engineering of the R35 GT-R super car, it have defeated every car, in every circuit (and road) at any price… and to probe that the Best Motoring guys (the bible to sports cars fanatics all over the world) have recored the tests in the new issue called Nissan GT-R LOADED, this is a video I definiteky will get.

Best Motoring's Nissan GT-R LOADED edition

Nissan R35 GT-R vs The World

In the picture Above Nissan R35 GT-R vs the Porsche 911 Turbo, 911 GT3, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and NSX Type R.

I am waiting for 2009 Honda NSX-R, the Naturally Aspirated car that WILL defeated the GT-R monster!!!

UPDATE: Edmuns.com have also made a review for the american version of the GT-R (less “bold” than the Japanese version), and it defeats all opponents as expected!

» The Ring’s best time

Nurburgring has become the performance benchmark race circuit for sports cars manufacturers, almost every week there’s a new car trying to beat the record, and the new record is here: 7:26.4 (with the GT-R making 7:29.2) and it belongs to the Corvette ZR1 2009, this new record has caused some controversy and  continues being debated in specialized forums, because of that the guys at Garage 419 made their own test as you can see below.

Personally I’m NOT a fan of the whole “American Muscle” thinking cars, i prefer a small engine with the best engineering on it, so in the table below you can see the specs for both cars with the price included, if I could buy a car, with no hesitation i would choose the GT-R.

Of course The GT-R is by far a better car, it has 150HP and 240 N.m less and 200Kgs more than the ZR1, USD$30,000.00 less and just 3 seconds down… An obvious choice!!!

» Nismo GT-R @ Tokachi 24

The proclamed almost non-tuneable Nissan GT-R (the same one that runs Nurburgring in 7.37 minutess and is causin’ terrible headaches to most of the sports cars makers worldwide) is going to participate in the Tokachi 24 Hours, tuned by Nismo, the tuning has been unpublished to the present day, yet some weight reduction is to be done, here some of the pictures of the expected final look for the Nismo GT-R.

» New Audi R8 at The Ring!

After the appearance of the Nissan GT-R, now there’s one more production-ready car spyshots at nurburgring circuit, it is the 2009 Audi R8, powered by a 525bhp 5.2litre V10 engine… not my favorite one, i still prefer the Honda NSX 5.5L V-10.

Here the video, enjoy!

» 2010 Honda NSX spy shots

By now, most of the people somehow related to the sports car world knows the Nissan GT-R is breaking all records and beating all sports cars in the world or is i like to say “eating porsche’s, bmw’s and lambo’s for breakfast”, but now! rumor has it that Honda is making prototypes for a NSX exclusively to “make better times” and re-break all GT-R records, the new NSX could come with 5.5L, v10, iVTEC engine, impressive! for a brand that always have bet for small engines with super great NA power… here’s a peak of an spy shot at Nurburgring, Germany!

That delicious roaring sound let us know that of course whatever competition vehicle Honda makes will be a winner, and that is a fact now, we all know it!!

» Four powerful reasons

I found 4 powerful reasons to buy a PS3, and these are:

1) Metal Gear Solid 4: (?????????4)

2) Final Fantasy XIII: (???????????XIII)

3) Initial D: (?????)D

and,
4) Gran Turismo 5:

I’ve played 1 & 2 since PS1 and 3 & 4 since PS2 and i’m sure (as you can see in the trailers or read in reviews) with these games everyone have enough reasons to ask for vacations and stay at home playing.

» 24 Hours of LeMans

The 24 Hours of LeMans has just finished,  North American viewers could catch the action on Speed Tv. Unfortunately, unlike the old Speedvision days, there wasn’t full 24-hour coverage, even worst, Speed Tv did not transmit the event live for Latin America, well there’s always Radio LeMans.

» Honda Civic Type R Racing Prototype

Honda Japan, the manufacturer of the ‘Type R‘ vehicles (available only in the Japanese Domestic Market -JDM-) has developed a Racing Prototype for the FD2 Civic Type R, this because the most famous Honda tuners MUGEN, SPOON SPORTS and HONDA ACCESS JAPAN have their own versions of the R vehicles based upon the Honda ones, and these vehicles are by far the most refined, fast, and enjoyable track oriented cars you can experience.

Here a peak on the new 2008 Civic Type R Concept vehicle.

Driver for the test: Keiichi Tsuchiya, a.k.a. Dorikin, Dori-Dori or Drift King.

Impressions: Impressive car, really fast, beautiful sound and unbeatable corner exit acceleration.

Enjoy your ride~

» World’s most beautiful hatchback

You can spend hours flipping through vehicles catalog pages and/or googling for beatiful hatchback vehicles and you won’t find any hatchback ever made more beautiful than the Honda Civic EK chassis (the chassis made between 1996 - 2000)

Honda Civic EK

Here in Lima, you can find no more than 50 of them, some are equipped with the modest low-fuel-comsumption D engines, while the most wanted ones came equipped with the powerful B16 engine (codename: VTi) which current trade value continues growing with time opposite than what happens with most other vehicles, it’s not beautiful but the naturally-aspirated most powerful as well, that’s why we love Honda!
